Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office Offers Safe, Legal Way to Dispose of Prescription Medications

Medicine Drop-OffBy Chief Deputy Orvis Campbell

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that their office offers a safe and legal way to dispose of expired or unused prescription medications with no questions asked.

Located in the lobby of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office—2295 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia—is a mailbox-style bin that allows the public to dispose of outdated or unneeded prescription medications such as pills, capsules and patches. Liquids and needles cannot be disposed at this location.

The office lobby is open 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays, so the public can remove expired or unused prescription medications from their homes at their convenience. By utilizing the disposal bin, citizens help the sheriff’s office in their efforts to reduce drug abuse and theft of drugs from homes.
