Residents reminded to register, vote in upcoming election

The deadline to register to vote or submit an absentee ballot for the November 4 general election is quickly approaching. Below are a few important reminders from the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections (BOE) website.

Register to vote by October 30. Residents eligible to vote in the upcoming general election may do so by visiting or calling the BOE (330.343.8819); logging-on to the BOE website; or visiting any public library, public high school, public vocational school, Office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, or Office of the Tuscarawas County Treasurer.

Submit absentee ballots in-person or via mail by November 3. Any qualified voter may vote by absentee ballot without providing a reason. To do so, visit the BOE office—101 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia—or submit an application for an absentee voter’s ballot online.

Bring your ID to the polls. Every voter will be required to provide proof of identity before voting. Eligible forms of identification include: current and valid photo identification card; military identification; copy of utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check; or government document showing your name and current address.

Visit boe.co.tuscarwas.oh.us for additional voting information, including polling locations and a complete list of general election candidates and issues.
